April 9, 2026 marks a significant milestone for 1926 Heritage Hotel Penang, as the iconic property officially reopens after an extensive transformation. The restoration was led by Jetblue Sdn Bhd in collaboration with The Ascott Limited under The Unlimited Collection.
Originally built in 1926, this beautiful Anglo-Malay architectural building—true to its name—was once a row of 24 linked houses before being converted into a hotel. Fast forward a century, the property now celebrates its 100-year legacy, making it one of the most unique heritage stays in Penang.
We were incredibly fortunate to be among the first guests (second, to be exact!) to check in after its reopening, making this stay even more meaningful as part of their centennial celebration.

The hotel offers five room categories: Heritage Room, Colonial Twin, Heritage Garden Patio, Residency Suite and Straits Suite.
We stayed in the Heritage Garden Patio, a spacious 52 sqm sanctuary complete with a private garden and direct access to the pool. Its perfect for those who enjoy a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. The room featured a comfortable double bed, a generous sized bathroom, thoughtful amenities such as in-room water dispenser to keep guests refreshed throughout their stay.
The seamless connection between the room and pool creates a relaxing resort-like experience right in the heart of Penang.

The hotel's facilities cater well to both relaxation and wellness. Guests can enjoy a fully equipped gymnasium, Sensorium Spa for rejuvenating treatments, or take a dip in the outdoor pool, which operates from 7am to 10 pm.
One particularly thoughtful touch is the warm pool in the evening. Its an inviting feature that enhances the overall stay experience, especially after a long day of exploring Penang.
