Sun Kim Aik Dim Sum Ipoh Perak 新锦益点心茶楼 @ Ipoh, Perak

Our excursion to Ipoh in 2022 after the pandemic included visit to less touristy eatery places. Therefore, we ventured slightly out from the town to visit an old-school dim sum eatery - Sun Kim Aik Dim Sum (新锦益点心茶楼). Comparing to the popular dim sum such as Foh San, Ming Kok or Chooi Yue, the weekday morning at Sun Kim Aik is quiet. 

Apparently, Sun Kim Aik has been operating since 1979 and can be considered one of the old school dim sum in Ipoh. The shop is simple and no-frills, and the dim sum is handmade by the chefs in the kitchen. Sun Kim Aik still practising the traditional dim sum serving method where the crews will take an array of dim sum to your table and you get to pick which one you would like to have.

Not sure whether we came here late (9am+) or it is a weekday but the choices of dim sum at Sun Kim Aik is relatively less. Our favourites in Sun Kim Aik go to the egg tarts and glutinous chicken. Nothing really extraordinary regarding the dim sum here actually. 

On top of that, the price here is not cheap too. Total dishes as depicted in the pictures above cost total RM 52. Everything is expensive nowadays and somemore these dim sums are handmade by the chef.
