Teochew Porridge @ 社尾古早味清香粥, Kedai Makanan Xia Boey Kochabi Restaurant

If you were to enjoy a bowl of warm Teochew Porridge in midnight, then you are left with no other options other than 社尾古早味清香粥 (Kedai Makanan Xia Boey Kochabi Restaurant) in Jalan Burmah, next to the renowned Green House Hokkien Mee. The shop boasts having a wide range of dishes to go along with your bowl of Teochew porridge, and you can dictate the quantity of each dish you wanted by doing self-service. Well, we were unsure of the authenticity of the claim - Xia Boey Kochabi, but the taste offered was far from impressive. It serves more like a casual place to grab a quick yet light dinner or supper, and of course with a slightly higher price tag compared to other Teochew porridge shop (with an advantage they operate till midnight).

Four dishes (mui choy, radish egg omelette, lap cheong and roasted pork) and two bowls of Teochew cost RM 16.50. The teochew porridge tasted alright and it was served with a chunk of sweet potatoes, which is a plus point. However, the dishes were less impressive. Mui Choy, radish egg omelette and roasted pork were plain in taste, and the only good one during the night was lap cheong. 

Perhaps we picked the wrong dishes for the night and should back there for another trial. Nevertheless, these dishes we picked were some of favourites that we used to have along Teochew porridge.

Different individual, different taste maybe..
