[TAIPEI 台北] Day 8: Dingxi food：World Soybean Milk Magnate, Jia Jia Fried Dumpling 第八天：顶溪站美食：世界豆浆大王，佳佳香锅贴

Typhoon in Taiwan, what can be done other than doing shopping indoor or having a rest in hotel?

在台湾的台风天，除了室内购物逛街，或者在酒店休息，还能干什么呢？

We spent the day hopping into different places by taking MRT, it was quite an interesting adventure. Firstly we stopped by Dongmen station but most of the shops were closed, then we went to Dingxi and discovered some nice food - World Soybean Milk Magnate and Jia Jia Fried Dumpling.

我们利用捷运到处逛，还蛮特别的经验。一开始我们下东门站，但多数店都休息，所以我们就转站到顶溪站去。就这样，我们来到世界豆浆大王和佳佳美食。

Soybean is almost synonymous with Taiwan, and the presence of Yong He soybean in almost every corner of Taipei is a solid proof of that. However, when Taipei people mention about "The Soybean in Yong He district", they may be referring to World Soybean Milk Magnate, which is the original shop of Yong He Soybean, located nearby Dingxi station.

豆浆和珍奶像是台湾的象征，就拿永和豆浆来说，台北每个角落都有。听说，世界豆浆大王是永和的创始点，坐落在顶溪站附近。

World Soybean Milk Magnate was established in year 1955, and currently the originality is still preserved by having only one shop in the entire Taiwan! They offer an extensive range of menu, ranging from soybean milk, pancakes, buns, cakes and etc. What an excellent place to stop by for breakfast or even supper. For your information, they open 24 hours a day!

世界豆浆大王在1955年就成立了，依然保持传统，只由这一家！菜单很齐全，有豆浆，烧饼，包子还有糕点。他们是二十四小时营业，可以考虑早餐或者宵夜来这儿吃。

Personal wish: wish Malaysia do have this place for supper on top of the Mamak restaurants. Haha!

小愿望：希望马来西亚有这样的地方吃宵夜，不用都是mamak档可以吃。哈哈！

Of course we ordered the hot soybean (25 NTD) as it was a really cold day as the rain was pouring non stop since the morning. The soybean exhibit a very strong natural taste of soybean, believed it was derived from the high grade bean which underwent a stringent processing and control of temperature. The shop also emphasized that they never use any genetic modified soybean.

当然，我们点了热豆浆（25新台币），冷天嘛，来碗热热的豆浆可好。他们家豆浆很清纯，飘着浓浓的黄豆味。我们猜他们应该是用顶级的黄豆炼制成豆浆，火候控制得很好。世界豆浆大王强调他们没有用基因改造的黄豆。

We wanted to order warm rice and peanut milk but it was finished so we have to go for the cold version (25 NTD). Despite having a strong rice and soybean taste, we would still prefer a hot version. Things would have different if it was a scorching hot day then.

我们还想点温温的米浆但卖完了，我们只好换成冰豆浆（25新台币）。虽然冷的还是有很强的黄豆香味，但我们依然喜欢温的版本。可能，大热天尝时，我们会有别的想法。

It turned out to a rice roll with sugar and caramel fillings. The mixture of salty and sugary taste was balanced and special in an own way. It could go very stuffy due to the large amount of rice.

没想到是米团里加了焦糖，米团咸咸又甜甜的，很好吃。吃起来有些涨，因为蛮大颗的。

Jia Jia fried dumpling was located quite some distance away from the MRT station but it is definitely worth the effort invested walking there. The fried dumpling here has gained popularity since its establishment in 1988. It was deep fried to a little bit burnt but not excessive, giving it a very crispy skin. Moreover, the dumpling size is huge and round, and we could say the dumpling will not fit into a regular mouth size within a single try.

佳佳香锅贴就在捷运站不远处，很值得特地走过去吃。自从1988年，他们的锅贴很受欢迎。锅贴皮有点焦焦，但不会过分的焦，吃起来脆脆的。还有，锅贴很大颗，我们可以说普通人的嘴巴无法一口把整颗锅贴塞进嘴巴里。

One piece of dumpling cost 7 NTD, which is relatively affordable.

一颗锅贴7新台币，价格平民。

The dumpling pork filling was very compact and intact, thus a few pieces of the dumpling were enough to made us full. The chef actually used black boar meat for the dumpling filling, that is why the taste is tastier than conventional pork meat we had.

锅贴的肉馅很扎实，几片锅贴弄得我们蛮饱的。师父其实是用了黑野猪肉来弄锅贴的馅料，难怪吃起来比普通锅贴更好吃。

We order sour and spicy soup (35 NTD) to warm our stomach too but it was mediocre. A lot of ingredients were in the soup and addition of vinegar made it tasted better.

我们还点了酸辣汤（35新台币）来暖暖肚，但味道普普通通。汤里有很多材料，加了醋更好喝。

Nearby to Dingxi station there was a night market - Le Hua night market. We did not go there as it was raining and not many shops were operating. Next visit perhaps?
