Macallum Connoisseur @ Gat Lebuh Macallum, Penang

Macallum Connoisseur has been a great heats after its opening early this year. Unlike the usual cafe, they made use of the big garage spaces, created spacious environment with high ceiling concept. Most crucial is that they go green by replacing the whole ceiling with solar panel. The tables were arranged with great spaces in between, giving patrons ample and comfortable zone to enjoy their gathering. However, the design of the building created great echo thus you have to speak much louder to your friends.

We went during Chinese New Year time. Although they were renown of having ample parking spaces in front the cafe, the cafe were so crowded that the parking spaces is not enough to cater. The queue to place order were super long. Luckily, we find their foods gratifying, especially the Smoky Duck Breast.

Aussie Strong Latte (RM 11)

Aglio e Oglio with Pork Bacon (RM 16), intriguing garlic scent joined power with the mix herbs dressing given the spaghetti very palatable touch. Dried chili were blended to give it very mild spicy touch. The pork bacon was definitely worth the highlight, so chewy with the pork fragrance grilled to perfection.

Highlight of the day would be their Smokey Duck Breast (RM 25). Tender duck breast with thick skin, laying in the bed of sweet red wine sauce. The fat under the skin were so jelly, a tad of oily but nice. In fact, it is the key for this delectable piece of duck breast. For a balancing diet, salad, cherry tomatoes and raisin were added as sides.

We always failed on the temptation of special menu, here we tried Macallum's Coffee Spaghetti (RM 18). We were very skeptical for the creamy coffee dressing thus we smelled the dish first. No strong coffee scent detected. We proceeded with first bite, nothing funny in taste. In fact the coffee scent were so mild that as though they weren't present. The grilled sausage slices were awesome.
