Khao Kun Mookata, probably the most value-for-money mookata buffet you can find in Penang and has the most outlets in Penang with their newest branch at Bay Avenue opened this April 2026. They are bringing their signature all-you-can-eat experience even closer to you.
Walk through the doors of the Bay Avenue outlet and you will instantly feel at home, especially if you are a returning Khao Kun regular. The same welcoming vibe carries over here, but with a few upgrades such as wider selection of ready-to-eat foods, a more generous spread of steamboat and grill ingredients, and a layout that feels fresh while staying true to what made Khao Kun a Penang's favourite mookata place.
They are remaining their hard to beat pricing, at RM 39.50 nett per adult and RM 24.20 nett for children aged 4-12 or senior citizens aged 70 and above with the requirement of 2 pax dining in.
Thank you Khao Kun for hosting us.
Start by choosing your broth: the light clear soup, a briny lala soup, the classic tom yum, or the tongue-numbing mala for those who like it fiery. Whichever you go with, load up the pot with the seafood spread-crab, lala clams, mussels, prawns, and bamboo clams all make for a deeply satisfying steamboat experience.
The real centrepiece of any mookata experience is the grill, and Khao Kun doesn't disappoint. Their seasoned meats and seafood sizzle beautifully over the cast iron pan, its kind of meal vibes where enjoying the conversation around the table as much as the food. To take it up a notch, build your own dipping sauce at the condiment station. Our personal favourite? A mix of fresh and deep-fried garlic stirred into the read and green chilli sauce. Trust us on this one.

While your steamboat simmers and the grill does its thing, head over to the ready-to-eat corner for some snacking. The star of the show here is the skewered buttered bread toast, its loved by kids and grandparents too. Alongside it, you will find belacan fried chicken, Thai-style moo ping, fried dumplings, nuggests, Taiwanese sausage, fries, noodles, mushroom soup, and fried seafood. It's practically a meal within a meal.
Round things off with a soft drink, then make a beeline for the ice cream corner that easily the most popular spot for the little ones. There is popcorn too, because why not.
Just remember to keep an eye on the clock, there is a 90-minute dining policy in place, and food-wastage is a no-go. Come hungry, eat well, and make every minute count.
