Ayam Penyek, this popular Indonesian dishes is increasingly common in local coffee shop scenes. We recently discover a stall at ML Coffee house is selling at RM 9, a wallet-friendly find.

We visited during lunch hour, and the stall was flooded with customers wanted to takeaway. We noticed continuously frying batches of chicken to ensure each serving stayed crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The short wait was worth it as nothing quite like freshly fried chicken served hot.

Their own made sambal is nicely done with balance between spiciness and aroma, with the fragrance of shallots and garlic. Drizzled generously the sambal over the chicken and rice, every bite was an indulgent.

Each set comes with cucumber on the side and topped with a fried egg, adding a comforting touch to the meal.

If you just simply wish for a change, they also offer the deep fried fish version. The fish was fresh and tender, pairing just as well with their flavourful sambal. It was a nice alternative to the classic ayam penyek.
