San Xi Lou, the Hong-Kong based restaurant brand known for its delectable mix of Sichuan, Cantonese and dim sum cuisines, officially opened their first Malaysian outlet on October 3rd, 2025 at Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang. The launch follows the brand's regional expansion after Taiwan and Vietnam, with Japan in the immediate pipeline after Penang.
San Xi Lou began around 18 years ago in Hong Kong back in 2007. The name of San Xi Lou 三希楼 comes from San Xi Tang 三希堂, the study space of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty that also houses the emperor's three precious calligraphy scrolls.
The brand's new outpost on Level 6 of Gurney Paragon Mall serves top-notch, classic dim sum delicacies daily from 9 am to 2.30 pm. San Xi Lou's signature dishes like Roasted Goose, Sliced Pork Belly with Mashed Garlic Dressing and Sauteed Diced Chicken with Spicy Red Chili are the must try.
The pairing of freshly sourced ingredients and long-standing Guangdong culinary skills brings out an exceptional dining experience that earns San Xi Lou a place amongst the demanding palates of Penang's food connoisseurs.

Besides their signature dishes, the Barbecued Pork was a standout, tender with perfect balance of lean and fatty meats, beautifully marinated to bring out its rich flavour. We were also impressed by the Rice Sheet Wrapped Spring Roll, which was wonderfully crispy at the outside, while the filling offered layers of flavour and texture inside.
In order to compliment these delicacies, do not miss the Fujian Style Fried Rice, a Hong-Kong syle Cantonese dish featuring golden fried rice topped with thick and savoury gravy loaded with mixed of meats and mushrooms.

Be sure to save some room for desserts. The Red Dates Pudding was soft yet bouncy, a subtly sweet treat that keeps you wanting more. Their Bucket Tauhua is anotherr must try, perfect best for sharing. There are three delightful ways to enjoy it, savour it plain to appreciate the natural bean aroma, add on yellow sugar for a deeper sweetness, then lastly drizzle on osmanthus syrup for floral fragrant taste.
