With the spotlight often shine on the Micheline Guide Siam Road Char Koay Teow, long queues are almost expected. However just around the corner, tucked under Jin Cafe at Siam Road's corner lot, a humble stall that has been a hearsay that selling some great Char Koay Teow too.
We finally had the chance to try it out. Greeted by a friendly, chill uncle behind the wok. Soon, the unmistakable aroma of wok hei filled the air as the silky strands of golden flat noodles were tossed with juicy prawns, Chinese lap cheong (sausage), crunchy bean sprouts and chieves. An eggy fragrance and a gentle kick of spiciness from the chili paste completed the medley.
Unlike the traditional version, this plate skips the cockles which is fine for us. The smoky and well-balanced flavors would makes us come back for more. If you are around Siam Road and craving for Char Koay Teow without the long wait, this stall is definitely worth a stop.
