Claypot Foodie 煲仔家庭 at All Seasons Place Penang

There is something irresistibly comforting about claypot dishes, the deep, rich and aromatic flavours developed in the pot are simply out of the world. Claypot Foodie, a relatively new addition to All Seasons Place, brings that experience to the table with menu centered around rice and noodle cooked in claypot. We just notice they also expanded their outlet to Island 88 be the second in Penang.

The eatery's striking all-orange theme gives it a bright and inviting vibe. The fully air-conditioned space makes indulging in blubbling hot claypot meals a pleasand and cozy experience. We had an enjoyable dining experience here and we believe claypot lovers will be delighted with this discovery.

As much as we intringue by the Cantonese Style Lap Mei Claypot rice, we opted for the Mushroom Chicken Claypot rice since we were dining with kids. The chicken was well-marinated, and the pop of yellow corn not only added a pleasing visual contrast but also an instant hit with the little ones.

They use Guangxi Nanning Ivory Rice that is known for its delicate fragrance and fluffy texture. The staff gave it a good stir upon serving, mixing the savoury sauce evenly into the rice, which was infused with the smoky aroma only claypots can deliver. The best part of any claypot rice has to be the crispy and slightly charred bottom layer of the rice and we got it here as well. We leveled up the rice with the chili paste at the table and love the outcome. If you are a cheese lover, you can also opt for the cheese-topped version like we did. However, we did not find the chili paste go well with this version.

For a twist, we also tried the Spicy Claypot Noodle. It was a warm, hearty bowl with just the right level of spiciness, at least for us. It packed with kich without being overpowering like how mala do, making it very easy to enjoy. The noodles came with sliced pork, meatballs and enoki mushroom for a balanced and satisfying bowl.
