As much as the term "hidden gem" has been overused, it truly fits when describing Tian Xia Cafe as it a spot that one might miss unless you are familiar with Perak Road morning market area. Tucked away at a corner lot within a residential neighborhood just off the main Perak Road, this air-conditioned kopitiam offers local hawker style food at wallet friendly prices in much comfortable setting. Whether you are stopping by for break, lunch or dinner, it is a cozy choice. Unpretentious, just selling some nice and classic local delights, at least with those dishes we had tried.

Their White Curry Mee is a must-try. It comes with creamy, milky broth, while the rich dark chili paste is served on the side, letting us to adjust the spice level to our liking. Just like any classic Penang style curry mee, it is generously topped with tofu puffs, some blood cockles, chewy cuttlefish and crunchy bean sprouts, offering a delightful mix of texture in every spoonful.
We also ordered the Chicken Rice which come with tender poached chicken that still retained its juiciness, lightly drizzled with soy sauce, paired right with aromatic rice and punchy chili sauce. The Char Koay Teow did not disappoint either, full of wok hei and savory depth.
We added some Fried Belacan Chicken Wings. It was freshly fried to golden perfection, crispy outside while juice inside and packed with flavorful marinade.
