Loong Feng Cafe 龍鳳茶室 and Loong Feng Terrrace 龍鳳老厝 at Lebuh Pantai Georgetown Penang

Loong Feng Cafe has quickly gained popularity for its classic meets modern ambiance. The space is furnished like a modern Malaysian Chinese antique kopitiam. This nostalgic atmosphere menu filled with beloved Malaysian delights and drinks.

If you plan to visit on a weekend, we would recommend going early. We arrived around noon on a Saturday and had to wait quite a while for a table. The seating arrangement can be quite cramped, especially for larger groups. It is a bit of challenge if you are dining with small kids though. However, the staff were well-trained, effeicient and attention which made our experience smoother.

Egg on Toast RM 8.90

The menu is packed with Malaysian favourites, from classic toast and Nasi Lemak to stir-fried rice, noodles and hearty soups. We can understand why this place draws a crowd, the food offers familiar comfort dishes that for Malaysians can enjoy any time of the day, or the tourist to try out the local delights just like the old days.

We started with one our favourite toast, Egg on Toast. Two slices of buttered toast came topped with gooey, bouncy half-boiled eggs. It was simply but satisfying.

For our mains, we had the Nasi Lemak Fried Chicken and Claypot Lou Shu Fun. The Nasi Lemak was visually appealing with blue pea flower rice giving it a charming nyonya touch. The fried chicken was well-battered, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The sambal was pungent with spicy kick, kind of tied everything together nicely.

The Claypot Lou Shu Fun was marked as a popular choice on their digital menu and it did lived up to the hype. The rice noodles were coated in a rich and aromatic soy sauce, made even cremaier by a raw egg yolk stirred in just before eating. The claypot helped to contain the heats and aroma, add in the sambal was a nice indulgent of flavours. The two sizable prawns was a luxurious touch to the noodle.

We also tried the Loong Feng Special Mix which reminded me of hor ka sai, a nostalgic mix of coffee and milk, enchanced with the nutty aroma of Nestum.

Just two doors down is Loong Feng Terrace, which opens after lunch. However, guest can orders from their menu during lunch hours and the staff will deliver it to your table. The menu there features kochabi tong sui (traditional desserts), ice desserts and snacks.
We treated ourselves to the Black Glutinous Rice, a comforting desserts served warm. Nice comforting dessert, the added coconut milk gave it a rich and creamy finish. We also tried the Tauhua Sama-same. Its a chilled pandan tofu pudding served with red beans and mini boba, immersed in a light milk based soup.
