Fu Sao Mian Guan 福嫂面馆 at Karpal Singh Drive Penang

A new China-style Chinese eatery, Fu Sao Mian Guan has opened at the bustling Automall in Karpal Singh Drive, adding another food destination to this vibrant waterfront social hub. The menu focuses on rice and noodle-based dishes, along with a selection of light bites. Although the menu are fully written in Mandarin, even for "bananas" still able to order as every item is accompanied by a photo.

While not every dish stood out during our visit, they offers a decent and affordable Chinese meal option by the waterfront, whether you are dining solo or with family.

We ordered Chicken and Egg fried noodle for the kids. The noodles were aromatic with a nice egg fragrance, though the protein portion was quite minimal, basically some tiny slices of pork here and there. On the plus side, there was generous amount of vegetables. The dish a tad of oily but overal is a comforting choice for those who prefer non-spicy meals.

The Braised Beef Noodle came with rich, hearty broth and decent chunks of beef. The flavour was alright, thought slightly on the salty side.

We had some light bites to go with the meal. The Pork and Scallions Pancake was served hot and crispy, light on the filling. We were hopping for a thicker one, more generously stuff version, but considering the price point, it was hard to complain. Great as a snack or side dish.

Hang Zhou Xiao Long Bao unfortunately did not meet our expectations. The bun texture and the filling was underwhelming. Base on the the menu phot, we were not expecting the typical soupy xiao long bao with thin skin, but we were still a little let down. It tasted like it may have been steamed from frozen, and even dipping it in vinegar and chili sauce did not elevate the experience for us.
