The Baboon House Melaka Town

On several occasions, we have driven past Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, the vibrant greenery colonial house consistently drew my attention. Little did I know that it housed a cafe. As we were preparing to bid farewell to Melaka town, the idea of indulging in a bit of café hopping with our children crossed our minds. The Baboon House surfaced as a suggestion from our online search, and much to our delight, it turned out to be a gem of a find.

As if they are practicing the art of shielding their guests from the disturbance of bustling Jonker Street, The Baboon House adopts an unusual approach that having their doors locked. To gain entry, one must press the bell and await the unlocking ceremony that leads to the revelation of a fascinating world within. The initial dimness upon entering took us by surprise, only to be swiftly ushered into a magical realm of lush greens and dining spaces bathed in the soft glow of skylights. The cafe unfolds as a living gallery nestled within a historical building, offering an unique escape into a jungle-like oasis.

They take immense pride in their signature burgers, with a menu that revolves primarily around these delectable creations. Complementing the burger-centric offerings are intriguing beverage selections, including local favorites such as Melaka coffee and refreshing kefir.

It took me a while to decide on the Honey Mustard Chicken from their extensive burger options, considering the preferences of our toddler. The burger's patty proved to be a delightful surprise, boasting tenderness and juiciness complemented by a perfectly calibrated sauce. Our another favorite was the bacon omelette, with a harmonious blend of creamy cheese bacons and sweet onions that beautifully wrapped in a omelette.

In order to accompany our meal, we opted for the local Melaka Coffee, a black coffee served with condensed milk that allowed us to customize its sweetness to our liking. On the other hand, the Roselle Lavender Kefir was a truly refreshing choice, especially in the midst of the tropical warmth, providing a perfect thirst-quenching experience. Lastly to end our indulging journey with sweet note, their Raffaelo Coconut Ice Cream is such a sweet treat that packed with coconut aroma and creamy richness.
