7 Ye Che Kee restaurant came out attracting alot of attention with their old school Hong Kong style Cha Chaan Teng retro decor at their Bukit Mertajam shop. With their expansion to D'Piazza, its a bit disappointing stepping in to see simple setting with minimal resemblance of their BM outlet but keeping the bustling and efficient environment. Extensive menu that covered most Nanyang delicacies with their Signature coffee. Expect some time of wait during peak hour here though.

We are spoilt by choices when ordering and we go for the polo bun and portugese egg tart as starter. The polo bun is crisp on the top with satisfying buttery taste. However, no wow factor on the egg tart though. One of the mains we ordered was the Shai Yong, springy al dante noodle texture with pungent clear soup topped with pork lard is good but do add on protein sides in completing the meal. Taiwanese Scallion Chicken Rice on the other hand, chicken is nicely seasoned but we thought it more towards the local flavour.
