We were looking for a place for a proper lunch at Cameron Highlands and stumbled upon Restaurant Eng Tick at Brinchang, located opposite of Brinchang morning wet market. Restaurant Eng Tick is a small scale Zi Char restaurant that has probably around half a dozen of tables. The food here appears to be expensive on the menu but in reality it is justifiable, as the price written are meant for full portion. If you look at the picture below for the food we ordered, it is half portion and the overall is pretty reasonable, considering the logistics cost for pork or chicken may be higher in Cameron Highlands.
Here is what we ordered:
1) Stir fried sweet potato leaves (RM 10)
2) Garlic Fried Pork (RM 20)
3) Hot Plate Tofu (RM 15)
The dishes were pretty standard and price range is within acceptable limit too. Among the 3 dishes, Garlic Fried Pork is the one that stood out. It is fried to having crisp skin while the pork is tender. On top of that, its garlicky taste is addictive and make one feels like going for another piece after finishing one.
Stir fried sweet potato leaves and hot plate tofu were average and just like the casual dishes you could get anywhere.
On a sidebar note, the lady boss here appeared to be unfriendly but is quite chatty. She even recommend us the type of fresh vegetables we should get in the opposite market, while also share us some of the fresh produces history in Cameron Highlands.
