PUTIEN (莆田) restaurant frequents amaze us with its premium food made from quality ingredients. Their pork trotters, Doutou clams and Yellow Croaker Fish had always been our all-time favourites and the list is expanding..
This round PUTIEN is introducing an exquisite dish - Buddha Jumps Over The Walls (佛跳墙). This pot of goodies are simmered for over 10 hours and made of 8 premium ingredients, namely 6 head Nanri Abalone imported from Fujian, sea cucumbers, shark fins, deep sea fish skin, Suizhou shiitake mushrooms, Dalian scallops, pork tendons and pigeon egg. The resultant soup is rich, flavourful and nutritious at the same time.
Not sure whether having MaoTai Chinese Wine together with Buddha Jump Over The Walls is a norm in Putien but the overall taste of the soup gets better when we mix these two together (the MaoTai Chiense Wine is given by the restaurant). The overall taste become sleeker, less thicker and more enjoyable.
It is recommended to try out the exquisite Buddha Jumps Over The Walls in Putien if you are a fan of enjoying great food.
Putien also launched a new item on their menu, featuring Mudskippers (跳跳鱼). It is the inaugural times we encouter such fish.
You can choose to have the fish grilled, cooked in soup or stew. Personally I prefer grilled and soup. It tastes smilar to eels but the texture feels more compact and fattier. Good thing is there is a total absence of fishy smell so you can purely enjoy the flesh.
The mudskippers will go well with their Xinghua noodles.
Of course, Putien restaurant also offer their usual great dishes and this times in a more affordable way. They are having set menu for 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 people respectively. Below are the goodies we enjoyed for 8 person menu. It is satisfying and fulfilling at the same time.
Currently it is the harvesting time at the province of Fujian for Wendan Pomelo from Aged Tree in Duwei Town and the restaurant is selling the pomelo at the boxes of 4 too. If you enjoy this unique sweet and sour Pomelo, do remember to order it from Putien!
