Muhibbah Seafood Restaurant is one of the must visit spot whenever you come to Kuantan, and even locals love to patronize here due to their fresh seafood and reasonable price. The restaurant is located out of nowhere within an industrial zone with factories but patrons regardless of tourists or locals just flock this place. However you need to have extreme patience to dine here as the waiting time is ridiculously long and go up to 1 hour+ for the dishes to arrive. Reservation is highly recommended and you risk having getting no tables (we were almost the victim of this).Â
The restaurant is famed for their fried shark meat but we decided to give this renowned dish a skip due to personal reasons. Almost every tables we see here has a serving of fried shark meat.Â
We ordered a Steamed Grouper (RM 48) instead of the fried shark meat. The fish is fresh, and the method of cooking also well preserved its freshness, which allowed us to taste the intact flesh. Even the fish gravy makes a nice accompaniment for the white rice.Â
The other dishes we had here such as Dragon Chives (RM 12), Sweet and Sour Chicken (RM 16) and Sizzling Tofu (RM 10) were pretty standard in taste and nothing spectacular. Many people still come to Muhibbah Seafood for their fish, especially the fried shark meat.Â
If you are a fan of handpicking your own seafood, you can go to Crab King, a seafood supplier located opposite of Muhibbah Seafood Restaurant to handpick your favourite seafood. They have wide selection of live seafood, including prawns, crabs, lobsters and fish. This is what the owner of Muhibbah told us when we are leaving and they asked us to have a tour there.Â
You can even go there just to have a look of the live seafood and the staff there are very friendly and welcoming. Beware of the fierce dog chained at the corner of the door though.
