Authentic Thai Food by What Saeb Boat Noodles with Official Thai Select Symbol

There had been numerous past bad experiences where certain Thai food outlets claimed to be serving authentic Thai food but the food turned out to be disastrous. However, recently we discovered a trick to tell whether the Thai restaurant serves authentic Thai food or otherwise. You can always check out for a symbol - Thai Select symbol, which is awarded by the Ministry of Commerce, the Royal Thai Government to guarantee the authentic Thai food and restaurants in Thailand and overseas.

In Penang, there is a restaurant that has been awarded the prestigious Thai Select Symbol - WhatSaeb Boat Noodles in Lebuh Carnavon. This is the second times the restaurant has been awarded the Thai Select symbol.

They are famed for their boat noodles and you also can get a variety of delicious Thai food here such as Pad Thai, Rice set, Curry, Thai snacks, Som Tum and many more.

First let's check out their boat noodles. It is available in dry and soup format, then nicely served with some accompany elements such as pork slices and fish balls. Boat noodles here are slightly larger in the serving portion as compared to the conventional boat noodles but you still will have some stomach capactiy to stuff in other good food here.

Another thing we love in What Saeb Boat Noodles restaurant is their variety of Thai salad aka Som Tum. Expect to feel the heat and spiciness with the Som Tum here but it was really enjoyable to taste the authentic Thai chili taste that goes extremely well with the greens.

If you are the one that can tolerate extreme spiciness and like a bit of adventure when come to their food, go for their Spciy Shrimp Salad. It is served with raw shrimp (just like your Sashimi right?) and topped with generous quantity of chili. You can taste the freshness of the shrimp, and gradually feel the burning sensation in your throat after taking just a piece of the shrimp. Guarantee you will fall in love with this one.

What Saeb also introducing a different level of creativity by having Deep Fried Som Tum. The papaya slices are deep fried and became so addictive when eating, as it has the crunchy crackling sound along with moderate level of sour and spiciness. The grounded peanuts then made it tasted even better.

Of course, conventional Som Tum lovers could go for their Spicy Squid Salad, Century Egg Salad, Som Tum Laos and many other choices.

Don't miss out their delicious grilled food too. We personally liked the Khor Moo Tod Fried Pork Neck (RM 15.80) and the Deep Fried Moo Bing Grilled Pork (RM 14.80) here. It is seasoned and grilled to perfection, with a slight crunchy skin, tender meat and brimming with nice flavour. The fried pork neck is extremely crunchy that made me feel like having one piece after another, though I was wary of its calories load but could not resist of having it more.

Deep these greatly fried goodies into the sauce provided for an even better taste.

What Saeb Boat Noodles also offer one of our favourite Thai food - Mango Sticky Rice (RM 11.80)! Can't resist the temptation to have a few more spoons of the milky glutinous rice coupled with the creamy mangoes.

The Cha Yen Milk Tea also perfectly suitable for scorching hot Malaysia weather to quench a thirst with its flavour and fragant tea flavour.
