Putien 莆田 Gurney Paragon New Dishes

One of our favourite Chinese restaurant - Putien Malaysia has launched a new menu with several new dishes to whet your appetite. As Putien dishes accentuated on its original and true ingredients flavour, expect great flavours from the list of new dishes including Fried Pork Liver, Stir Fried Abalone with Red & Green Chilli Peppers, Boiled Pork Rib Soup with Kelp, Double Boiled Pear with Osmanthus And Aged Mandarin Peel and our favourite of the night Fujian Red Mushroom Seafood Lor Mee

On top of that, Putien also reintroduced their Doutou Clams imported from Putien district with 9 different clams inspired dishes and now you can enjoy the 100 second cooked Yellow Croaker Fish freshly air-flown from China for only half of the usual price - RM 25!

Thanks to Putien Malaysia for hosting

The most worth mentioning promotion this time at Putien will be their Yellow Croaker Fish available at half of their usual price. Being native to China especially in the East China Sea and Yellow Sea, it is uncommon to get Yellow Croaker Fish in Penang or Malaysia. The fish bears a sweet taste and a firm flesh much to our enjoyment. 100 seconds cooking of the fish ensure you are able to savour its freshness and the resultant soup is also a pleasure to enjoy.

And after such a long wait, the restaurant has finally brought back their Doutou clams dishes! As the chefs team have came up with different ways to prepare the clams, you may order any type based on your preference, let it be seasoned spicy fried, salt & pepper, scrambled egg, red mushroom clams soup, clams soup, clams baked in Fujian old wine, clams steep in icy lees, minced garlic or salt baked.

Everytime come to Putien we also had a conundrum on what to order for their starters as all were too good to resist. Therefore might as well the starter platter of 4 to enjoy a wide variety in small quantity. Our favourites go to braised pig intenstine.

Back to the introduction of the new dishes in Putien restaurant which we felt is worth mentioning. Our favourite goes to Fujian Red Mushroom Seafood Lor Mee. The taste is light yet appeasing, and the red mushroom is something foreign that rarely introduced to our taste buds. It is soft and earthly in flavour, and at times may misled you thinking the mushrooms is uncook yet. However when in combination in the gravy and noodles, it tasted just perfect.

If you enjoy having soup, do consider Boiled Pork Rib Soup with Kelp

When it comes to exquisite Chinese dishes, you can't run away from a few familiar dishes such as lobsters or abalones. That is why Putien has introduced Stir Fried Abalone with Red & Green Chilli Peppers, which is a very interesting dish. Needless to say, the abalones are good - naturally buttery, but the red and green chili are providing a sharp contrast with a crunchy sensation and midly burning hot too. Watch out for it!

The newly introduced green beans vegetables are good too. It is crunchy, and less fibrous compared to the conventional ones we bought in market.

Any one fancy slight exotic dish such as pork liver? If you belong to this group, good news as Putien also introduced a new dish - Fried Pork Liver

The new dessert - Double Boiled Pear with Osmanthus And Aged Mandarin Peel is such a delicate to enjoy. It offers a subtle sweet taste, along with some freshness from the pear and the clever usage of osmanthus added a hint of elusive aroma to the dessert. Definitely a great way to end the dinner or lunch here.
