A typical checklist when visiting Ipoh would include visit to limestone cliffs and caves, natural lakes or some historical places in the old town. However in near future you may want to chekc out Palo 11, a new spot in that town that offers commercial, retail, entertaintment, food and beverage at one single spot. We were surprised to see a Hooga store here, and decided to check out the surrounding restaurants here and take the time as a rest. We tried Fujiwara Tofu Shop 藤原豆花店 and 八代目日式舒芙蕾松饼 Badaimu Japanese Souffle.
Fujiwara Tofu Shop derived its name from the famous Japanese series Initial D. The shop offers soy beancurd, soy milk, rice, noodles and some snacks. The seating is comfortable though limited.
The soy beancurd and soy milk here are of decent quality, though it may be a tad pricey when compared to traditional stalls relatively. Can consider to skip the snacks as they just sell it loosely from the readily available big packet.
Neighbouring to Fujiawara Tofu Shop is a Badaimu Japanese Souffle, a simple cafe offers Japanse souffle and some western dishes at a relatively affordable price. The crew in charge recommended us to try their siganture - Toffee Souffle (RM 13.90) and said it is suitable for kids too. However they will need 30 minutes baking time.
We were amazed by its size when the Toffee Souffle were presented to us. It was humongous akin like 2 doughnuts stacking on each others, then there are some pearls aka boba on its side. It was a real bargain at RM 13.90. The souffle was well done - airy and light but the center part was a bit dense to be classified as souffle. Sweetness was mild and that was a nice level to enjoy. However, the presence of pearls is a bit perplexed though. Perhaps it was to contrast to airy texture of the souffle? Nevertheless, the souffle here is a worthy try.
