Chinese New Year is about joy, prosperity and reunion. In line with that spirit, Ixora Hotel Penang is offering an array of delightful fortune feasts for the upcoming Chinese New Year 2022. There are 2 packages, namely Fortune 8 Course (RM 988+) and Wealth 8 course (RM 1288+), which is available from 15th January - 15th February 2022. Ixory Spring Toss Yee Sang is available for takeaway and dine-in too for RM 98+ (medium) and RM 108+ (large).Â
We were there to sample their Wealth 9 course and the dishes are illustrated as below.Â

The course meal starts with a Salmon Yee Sang, followed by a traditional Chinese dishes - Chef Special combination, featuring Japanese seaweed, salmon cube with sesame sauce, fragrant cheesy dragon ball, aromatic spices money bag and crab craw with mayo and ebiko.Â
The set then continues with Double Boiled Chicken Essence Soup with Fish Maw, Mushroom and Chinese Herb. After that, Honey Roasted Chicken is served and followed by Deep Fried Slipper Lobster with Thai Special Sauce.Â
Slipper lobsters are usually seen in buffet line and this is the a very few rare occasion that it is available in set meals. The Thai special sauce is unique on its own.
Then we have the must have dish during Chinese New Year - Steamed Dragon Tiger Grouper with Special Soy Sauce and Garlic Oil, followed by Braised Baby Abalone, Dried Scallop, Sea Cucumber with Vegetable.Â
The set meal ends with Fragrant Dried Scallop Fried Rice and Sweetened Warm Red Bean Paste With Glutinous Ball. Introduction of scallops into the fried rice has rendered the fried rice to have a strong briny sensation.
In the meantime, Reunion Buffet Dinner is available on Chinese New Year Eve (31st January 2022). Price is RM 98+ per adult and RM 68+ per child.Â
