I used to associate Sheraton Hotel to a business hotel. As a matter of fact, my last stay in Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya was on a business trip. However when interstate travelling was awllowed after the Covid-19 circumstances improved, I decided to book a 3 days 2 nights stay in Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya Executive Suite.
The main reason that propel the decision to stay in Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya despite its being a business hotel was the affordable rate. The package purchased at Shopee cost RM 600 (after RM100 discount voucher) for 3 days 2 nights stay in executive suite, which we thought is a pretty good deal. On top of that, we have been yearning for a short escape after a prolonged lockdown.
Being a business hotel, Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya offers a big bed that guarantees a comfy sleep, along with an unparalled urbanscape view. However, there is really nothing interesting located within walking distance of the hotel (the hotel directly get into federal highway) so we have to go out somewhere else for any other activities.
Parking and Check-In
Parking in Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya is co-share with the adjacent Pinnacle office building. Therefore, expect a certain degree of difficulty to find a vacant parking slot during office hours.
Please do remember to get a physical parking ticket from the automated machine and avoid using your Touch 'n Go card for parking. I know this sounds ridiculous, but the hotel staff requires the physical parking ticket for validation for a RM5 flat rate per entry. If you are using Touch 'n Go card for entry to car park, the staff would not be able to validate it!
We were the unfortunate one and had to exit the parking upon check in, or else we have to pay the hourly rate of RM3 per hour.
The ramp leading to car park is rather narrow so be warry if you are driving a big car.
Nevertheless, the check-in process was flawless and the hotel staffs were friendly. They even gave us a free upgrade to a high-floor Executive Suite which offers a better view of the city!
Executive Suite Sheraton Hotel
The high floor Executive Suite is located at the corner unit, which is our preference as less disturbance and noise can be heard if there are people walking along the corridor. We liked the modern room apperance, and the windows walls at both living area and bedroom allow plenty of natural light into the space. A single door separating the living area and bedroom allows our kid to sleep well while we still can enjoy a late night television show in the living area.
A powder room is located near the room entrance and another toilet is connected to the bedroom. Again, we can minimize interruption to our kid whenever we needed the toilet break as we can use the powder room.
We enjoyed the design of the main bathroom. There is a bath tub located adjacted to a window wall, so we can enjoy a hot tub while overlooking the cityscape. There is a mini LED screen on the wall so you may enjoy a show while taking a dip. Personally, the toilet design is impeccable and it is even bigger than our house bathroom!
The windows wall overlooking the city scape of leading to Kuala Lumpur managed to keep our daughter occupied a while. At distance away we can see the latest Malaysia highest tower - Merdeka 118.
Most importantly, the bed in Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya provides the ultimate comfort for a good night sleep.
Gym and Swimming Pool
The gym and swimming pool is located at the rooftop of the hotel. Due to the pandemic, the hotel management has mandated all guests to make a booking at least 15 minutes prior using these facilities. The hotel staff will be there during your booking time to hand you the towels or making other arrangements.
The infinity pool comes with a view of the city where other places could not offer for sure. There is an adjacent kid pool too, and somehow this dilutes the label of Sheraton Hotel as a business hotel.
Breakfast in Sheraton Hotel
Due to Covid-19, the hotel has changed from buffet breakfast at Feast Restaurant to a la carte buffet style. We are given an order chit and choose whichever food that appeals to us based on the dishes name. Not something we enjoy but given the current circumstances, this is what the hotel has to offer.
Thankfully the breakfast spread and dishes are good. The choices included some healthy options such as muesli, avocado spread, and even local favourites such as Chee Cheong Fun, Nasi Lemak, Wanton Noodles and etc. The chili of the chee cheong fun is real spicy.
Dining options in Sheraton Petaling Jaya
Other than Feast restaurant, Sheraton Petaling Jaya also host other restaurants such as Link Cafe, Miyabi the Japanese restaurant, Yue the Cantonese restaurant, Sala Bar the rooftop bar by the pool and Chime, a place for whiskey and cigar connoisseurs.
We manged to try out Miyabi and the food was great. Check out our article on Miyabi here.
Conclusion
Overall we enjoyed the stay in the hotel. The room is comfortable and the rates are good. Furthermore, the hotel is new and the furniture still in good shape.
