One of the neighbourhood and least commercialized dim sum outlet in Penang ought to be KK Dim Sum Garden 佳佳點心苑 in Lintang Angsana, Farlim Penang. The low-key outlet has probably existed for decades and still kept its unpretentious settings, with a team of senior crews running the business. Hence, do expect to some less amicable services. The dim sum choices are not extensive neither, but some of them are authentic in taste, which explains why the place is still popular among the locals especially on weekends and public holidays.
I have realized the existence of KK Dim Sum Garden for close to a decade due to customer's office is nearby there but the idea of dining there never cross my mind. However due to the pandemic, we are really craving dining for dim sum, as delivery never offer the same mouthfeel as dining for these delicate snacks. Then KK Dim Sum Garden came to our mind and we thought we could avoid the large crowd, but the reality was we had to wait for a table even at 10am.
KK Dim Sum Garden practices the newer way of ordering. Head over the to counter and tell the crew anything you want to take, and they will serve it to your tray. Basically there are nothing much surprisisng or exciting over the dim sum served here, except for the wantan mee. The wantan mee offers a strong Cantonese influences in Hokkien dominant Penang city, with al-dente noodles covered in sweet and umami dark soy sauces. Its portion is also generous with 5 wantan given. It is hard to find these types of wantan mee in Penang in our opinion
If we were to return here, it will definitely be their wantan mee.
