One thing that embossed in our mind during travelling to France is the colourful and spectacular array of desserts and pastries displayed upon stepping into their boulangerie or patisserie. Back to our hometown in Penang, such scenes are uncommon but we were shared by one of our followers that La Vie en Rose Patisserie sells awesome pastries such as beignets, tarte au citron, madeleine and croissants. As no dine-in allowed yet, we ordered some of their pastries online via delivery. It was a surprise that their pastries are so hotselling that it often run out of booking slots!
We were highly recommended to try their beignets, which we had no idea what was it until this moment. Google tells us beignets are square shaped pieces of dough that are deep friend and generously sprinkled with confetioners sugar. We are unsure whether conventional beignets come with fillings but all beignets from La Vie en Rose Patisserie come with different fillings.
A piece of beignets is RM 8 here, but you can buy a box of 6 for RM 42. Six flavours are being offered, namely raspberry, vanilla, coffee, nutella, matcha and hojitcha, though additional RM1 apply for nutella and matcha while RM2 apply for hojitcha. These beignets tasted like dougnuts but more fluffy in texture, and the filling is generous! Overall, the beignets are addictive and best paired with a cup of americano or cafe au lait.
Be wary when biting the beignets as the filling may ooze out from the corner of your mouth.
La Vie en Rose Patisserie also offer a variety of croissants such as plain croissants (RM8), pain au chocolat (RM8) and almond croissant (RM 8.5). The croissants are superb, with nice layering and flaky texture. It can be justified by the nice crackling sound when you chew upon it. The almond croissants are the unique of these 3, as it has almonds flake toppings and an unique spread in between the croissants.
Overall, La Vie en Rose Patisserie is a place to go should you plan to enjoy some good pastries.
