Exactly the same date two years ago (2019), we were having a vacation in Austria; then last year (2020) I was in the labour room of hospital, then in 2021 we celebrate our girl's 1 year old birthday at home due to the lockdown imposed by the government. What a roller coaster ride with ups and down for my life spanning across 2 years!
Planning the little's one baby party at home may seem to be daunting task at first, but here are some of the little things we have done to make it interesting.
1. Personalize the Celebration
Like it or not, stay at home birthday party ought to be lesser in fun factor compared to parties held elsewhere - garden, beach, restaurants, or even McDonald's! Yet this does not imply stay at home birthday party is boring. We planned to include as much as items which our little girl enjoyed to make her feel today is an unique day.
For instance, our baby loves to play with dog so we had a customized birthday day with dog theme. Then we decorated the rooms with some ballons and she absolutely in love with the ballons!
2. Special Corner for Photoshooting
No doubt we wished to capture dozens of nice photos during the birthday celebration but current circumstances did not allow that. Thus, we decided to do it ourselves! Our house is small but we managed to arrange a small corner in the kitchen as a photoshooting corner, and use our smartphone as camera and DJI Osmo 4 to track the baby's movement.
All that was needed is a plain wall as background, some space, natural lighting and some decorative items.
We used Shopee and Lazada to purchase a few of the decorative items such as cake stands, party hats, birthday hanging words and lights. Apart from it, Mr. DIY stores also is a great avenue to get all these items but need to have patient to browse its physical store.
3. Arrange Simple Food
If it was a birthday party arranged elsewhere, everybody attending would have been treated with awesome food and drinks, then nobody will leave in hunger.
However the reality is otherwise now. At first, it sounds tempting to get our hands dirty in kitchen to prepare the food for baby, or even to bake a cake for her but it was too time consuming. We have to juggle in between taking care of her, preparing the food and setuping the birthday scenes. Eventually, we ordered a 6 inches cake from our friend, and ordered food delivery for ourself.
This was proven to the better option as we were even drained out blowing ballons to decorate the whole house.
4. Let the Little One Have Fun
Of course, we as parents have a lot of cleaning job to do after that.
5. Give Her A Surprise
No doubt staying at home for prolonged days due to MCO and she has become rentless lately with the same routine. As it was her birthday, our house was fully decorated with ballons and she was in jolly mood for the whole day! She will smile cheekily and point to the ballons at different corner of the house for the whole day, and the fun lasts for several days!
It is incredible how some ballons managed to surprise her and kept her in jolly mood.
