One of the latest food court in Penang that provides a variety of great choice of meal is The Shark Food Court 大白鲨 at Jalan Burmah. As far as we know, the food court has been existing for some time but the popularity was not peak until lately. Many renowned hawker has shifted their operation into The Shark Food Court in 2020, making it one of the favourite spot by locals to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Car park is available complimentary, adding another advantage to the food court.
The food court is brimming with crowd when we checked it out on New Year's Day for brunch. Finding a seat was difficult but the service crew was quick to help for arrangement. Head to the designated area If you would like to enjoy the Bak Kut Teh.
We were spoilt for choices at the food court. There were too many selections and some are big names, such as Kuantan Road Curry Mee, Mutong Hokkien Mee and more.
One of the dish that caught our attention is Loy Kee Wanton Noodle as a number of patrons in other tables have it ordered on their table. We did not realized we have tried it previously when they used to operate at Lebuh Kimberly. The noodles were served al-dente and briming with nice sesame oil flavour, although we felt the pepper was overwhelming. On the other hand, we also had the wanton soup and enjoyed it much. The wanton is packed with nicely seasoned filling.
We have tried Mutong Hokkien Mee long ago when they still operate in one of the hawker centre in Pulau Tikus. Having experienced of this wondrous Hokkien Mee, we decided to reminiscen the great flavour once again. The presentation was excellent and enticing, but the overall taste seems lackluster compared to previously when we tried.
Fried fish noodle is another highly recommend dish here. The chef expertly fries the noodles and served with generous quantity of fried fish cutlet. Flavour was right on the spot.
Another dish we tried was Pork Noodles Soup. The portion is generous and flavour is nice. You hardly can miss this stall as it is located right at the entrance.
Other dishes that my friend recommended to try is their Nasi Melayu, but we decided to give it a skip as it was brunch time. Perhaps you could share us the verdict?
