The small township of Permatang Tinggi in Seberang Perai has many to offer to foodies, despite its relatively remote location from major attractions in Penang. One of them is Kampung Bi Seafood Noodle House, a modern chic style coffee shop that sells noodles, or specificially tomyam noodles, clear soup noodles and porridge. Their operation method is no different than the conventional tomyam noodle store - you get the authority to pick your preferred ingredients from the big pool of selections, followed by noodles and soup type.Â
 
We were surprised by the number of patrons present in the restaurant even at off-peak hour at 2pm on a weekday. The restaurant was more than half occupied. As usual, we headed straight to the counter to pick our ingredients and was amazed by its great selections. There are easily more than 40 different types of ingredients to choose to go with your noodle.
Both the tomyam soup and clear soup we had were flavourful. The flavour was balanced, especially the clear soup which exhibit soothing flavour and not dull even having its alone. The tomyam is not the type that has extreme sour taste or fiery hot that can cater to majority of commoners' taste. It is notable the soup portion is considered generous.
However, the dried noodle was not exciting. It tasted like total absence of seasoning, in particularly dark soy sauce that usually help to elevate the taste of dried noodles. We are unsure whether it was the usual practice of the chef that serves the dried noodles in such way. Therefore, it is recommended to go for soup version for enjoyment.
