Haneul Park may be one of the best place in Seoul to take Instagram worthy photos, yet not many go there for a visit compared to other popular destinations such as Namsan Seoul Tower, Bukchon Hanok Village, Banpo Bridge or other renowned attractions. Haneul Park, in fact is the most popular of the five parks of World Cup Park near Seoul World Cup Stadium. From our personal experience, the park gets incredible beautiful during autumn (October / November) when the Pampas Grass turns into golden brown colour. On top of that, Haneul Park also offers breathtaking view of Seoul
How to Go To Haneul Park
Going to Haneul Park is easy via subway, but prepare to walk a bit of distance, which should not be an issue as mostly you have walked a lot in Seoul!
Take subway to World Cup Stadium Station (line 6) and exit through exit 1. After that, turn right and go around the around the stadium, then walk toward the big road. Cross the road when you reach the big intersection and the park is diagonally-right to you.
Once you walk pass the carpark and reach the park entrance, you will see a small booth and naturally people forming a beeline to wait for the tram around there. It is your choice, either to pay 3,000 won for a return tram trip (single ride cost 2,000 won) or attempt 291 steps up to Haneul Park. We did the latter option, and enjoyed the scenery along the way though it was somehow exhausting.
What to Do in Haneul Park
Haneul Park is one of the greatest spot in Seoul that you can snap countless of Instagram worthy pictures. Almost every corner if a picturesque spot. Even if you are not someone who is keen on taking photos, the lush greens in the park is surely appealing to you.
Check out Instagram for pictures taken in Haneul Park and you will know how beautiful is this place. In fact, a stroll in Haneul Park is relaxing and satisfactory, as our trip has been occupied with bustling crowded places for the past few days.
Every October, Haneul Park will be hosting the the annual Silver Grass Festival when the silver grass is in bloom. The park will be open at night throughout the festival period, allowing you to enjoy viewing illuminated fields of silver grass during the night.
On top of the beautiful sight, the top of Haneul Park also has 22 lookout points including an artistic looking observation deck that offers visitors views of Seoul and its various attraction such as Namsan Seoul Tower, Bukhansan Mountain and Han River. Even at night, the observation deck was illuminated with light, rendering it a romantic place to hang out.
Fret not if you are running out of food or water supply, or even need a biological relief. There is a convenience store here and restrooms at Haneul Park, making here an ideal place to unwind yourself.
