Despite located in a prominent and bustling area in Vantage Point Jelutong, many may not aware the existence of such beautiful nature themed cafe - The Busy Monet. The sole visible indication of the cafe is the outdoor signboard, giving pointer to the exact whereabouts of The Busy Monet. Nevertheless, ourselves were puzzled about even at the moment walking up the staircase as there were no clear pointer (the second floor is a kids learning centre). Only when we take a turn at the end of staircase we knew we were heading to the right direction.
The Busy Monet is akin a jungle tucked in an urbanized city. There are plants in every corner of the cafe, along with wooden furniture and a large fish tank that has real fishes swimming within. Meanwhile, grafiti are present in the cashier counter and the wall behind, creating a stark contrast against its surrounding. We presumed the cafe owner to be an esthete person, as he creatively select soothing background music and invested well in the sound system. Combination of every single elements in The Busy Monet made here a pleasant place to unwind ourselves.
The food here are regular cafe food - spaghetti, salad, croissant, meat and etc, though they have separate menu for brunch, dinner and all-day dining menu. The overall taste of the food is above average, with some fine refinement would have made the food even better. For instance, the salmon pieces of the Creamy Salmon Pasta (RM 25) was served in irregular chunks - something like minced meat, and it appears it was not grilled properly to unleash its flavour. Its creamy white sauce with touch of Parmesan cheese sauce was alright, though the consistency of the sauce could be smoother for a better overall sensation.Â
We liked the Salmon Quinoa Salad (RM 25). It offers a refreshing and tangy sensation with its unique combination of quinoa, salmon, tomatoes, onions, black sesame, red radish, edible flowers and topped with a poached egg. Somehow, it taste has similarity with local Kerabu.
The cafe offers an extensive range of drink menu with a dozen of latte choices to choose from, alongside with scented tea and sparkling drinks. Unlike the regular cafe, coffee appears not to be their focus.
Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere in The Busy Monet and the cafe did a striking difference compared to other cafe.
