Chèrn Kâ By Lei Ya Thaiboat @ Lebuh Tye Sin, Penang

Lebuh Tye Sin, or known as the 4th road by locals welcome a new Thai eatery - Chèrn Kâ By Lei Ya Thaiboat. Being relatively new in food and beverage business, the restaurant was quite a letdown in terms of service and food taste during our visit in mid March 2020. We waited for more than 30 minutes before our food being served, and there were only 2 tables before us. Though carry the label as Thai restaurant, the food was more skewed toward local flavour bearing Thai name.

Tomyum Tha Lae Nam Sai (Clear Soup Tomyam, RM 22.90) has an extreme pungent taste that makes it intolerable to enjoy. There was hardly any nice flavour arises from the lemongrass or chilies. Perhaps during preparation process the chef has mistaken on the proportion of certain ingredients?

Thai Omelet with Acacia Leaves, or known as Kai Jeaw Cha Aom (RM 10.90) is a common item in Thai menu that will make us excited but not that version here. It was greasy, lack of distinctive flavour and offer a flat taste. The only thing that rescue the night was Moo Ping (RM 3 / piece, min 2 pieces) as the pork skewers were nicely grilled with a nice char scent.

The Milk Tea (RM 3.50) here tasted like regular milk tea you could get in conventional Mamak stall. By the time we waited till our food arrives, all the ice had melted and it tasted like plain water.

There ought to much catch up in terms of food quality by the restaurant, otherwise customers may just flow into neighbouring food outlets considering there are numerous options available there.
