Coffee Signature @ Jelutong, Penang

Amidst the hawker food haven in Jelutong lies an elegant and hearty cafe that has serves the community close to 2 years without many people knowing it - Coffee Signature. Origin from Johor, the cafe serves a range of Western fares such as pasta, burgers, proteins and aesthetically charming desserts. Coffee Signature is pride of using Sous Vide technique in preparing their food, resulting a better retention of moisture and nutrients. On top of that, the cafe also portrays Victorian style interior, ensuing a comfortable dining environment and perfect for Instagram spot too.

Local Kiam Hu Caesar Salad

While salad usually consists of only Western inspired components, Coffee Signature took a leaf by adding Kiam Hu Sauce (salted fish) into their Local Kiam Hu Caesar Salad (RM 16). As odd as it sounds, the taste is surprisingly good as it introduces a characteristic sharp taste with a slight acidity that breaks the monotonous of green leafy vegetables of baby romanine lettuce and croutons. Shaved parmesan cheese and sous vide egg further increased the overall creaminess of the dish.

Cream of Mushroom

Cream of Mushroom (RM 12) here offers an earthy flavour with an extreme richness of mushroom. Any mushroom geeks will definitely scream to joy when having it. Best enjoy it when it is served warm.

Smoked Duck Creamy Mushroom Linguine

Cow Food (Pesto Pasta)

There is a range of main dishes should you need something to fill your stomach and we enjoyed Smoked Duck Creamy Mushroom Linguine (RM 24) much. This dish offers the traits of carbonara, which is a tad creamy and it had the slight briny smoked duck to balance the dish. Whenever you feel like having an extra dose of salt, take the unique parmesan chip and have a small bite of it. It will fill your oral cavity with a pleasant cheese of cheese immediately.

On the other hand, Cow Food (RM 22) as the name suggests are meant for vegetarian. It has penne pesto topped with roasted almond parmesan cheese, basil leaf, cherry tomato, broccoli, parmesan chips and arugula. Although it sounds greeny, you would not find any factor of boredom having it. In fact, the thinly cut penne is one of the enjoyable factor.

Beef Burger

Sauted Mushroom Egg

One of the item that registered strong memory and worth the value is their Beef Burger (RM 28). Served generously with a succulent beef patty weighing 250gm, along with bacon double cheese onion, gherkins and topped with sesame bun, the beef burger set to impress the palates of many. We personally enjoyed the burger much and it is our favorite dish of the night.

A lighter version of "burger" will be Sauted Mushroom Egg (RM 22), which has sauteed mushroom and scrambled egg served in a croissant.

Miso Salmon Soup (RM 33)

The chef at Coffee Signature took a different approach of their Salmon protein by infusing it with Japanese elements. By doing so, they serve Miso paste cooked with salmon fish head in sauce gravy boat, which you can pour into the 40 degree sous vide salmon based on your preference level. The miso paste is brimming with a high degree of pleasant fish taste, and at the moment we thought the miso paste would make a great fish head steamboat!

Lamb Shank

Kapitan Curry

For those prefer a meat based meal, you can try their Lamb Shank (RM 44), which has underwent 12 hours sous vide or Kapitan Curry (RM 26), a 90% sous vide chicken whole leg.

Chocolate Waffle with Banana Nutella Sauce (RM 18)

Desserts fanatic will scream in jubilant mood upon seeing the Chocolate Waffle with Banana Nutella Sauce (RM 18). The crepes are executed well with nice and flffy texture, and pair it with the torched banana and Nutella sauce made it a good finishing for your lunch or dinner.

The portion of the Waffle is generous so best shared among 2 people or more.

Coffee Panna Cotta (RM 15)

Coffee Signature also has Coffee Panna Cotta (RM 15), which has cubes infused with nice coffee taste. For those who crave for coffee yet afraid of insomnia night in the evening, then perhaps this can be your savour.

Here are some of the drinks we had tried and if you intend to post an Instagram worthy picture, then Blue Sapphire (RM20) with its signature cotton candy makes an excellent choice. Fret not, the drink is not only aesthetically appealing but the taste is refreshing too.

Tea lovers may consider their Houjicha, Kyoto Uji Matcha and Genmaicha.
