Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice is a big name in Singapore, having edged the notoriously foul-mouthed yet successful celebrity chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsey in SingTel Hawker Heroes Challenge in 2013. The modest chicken rice stall is housed in Maxwell Food Centre, just a short walking distance from the popular tourist destination Singapore Chinatown and Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
Just like regular hawker stall, Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice occupies a stall within Maxwell Food Centre, surrounded by a few other Hainanese chicken rice stalls.Â
Online news portals and bloggers have shared that there is always a queue in front of the stall but we were lucky as we went in odd hours at 4pm. There was just a short queue and we place our order swiftly within minutes, then proceed to the adjacent stall to collect our order.
Singaporeans held high expectations to their chicken rice. Not only the chicken has to be good, the rice has to be excellent too. That is why Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice managed to win the hearts of the diners here.
The rice itself is oil rice, and each rice granules are fluffy and distinctive from each others. Meanwhile, the poached chicken, or so called white chickens by the locals are flavourful, tender and juicy. It is wet slightly with their unique soy sauce that gives it an aromatic and sweet scent.
Couple both the chicken and rice with their unique chili sauce for some heat components. Such a simple dish only cost $5, yet it could yield gratifying sensation.Â
At the same time, the stall also offers bean sprouts with cuttlefish and vegetables at additional cost.
The chicken rice stall also offers their diners the similar quality meal at Lavendar, Simpang Bedok and Clementi.Â
