Almost all tourists going to Busan also left some carbon prints in Gamcheon Culture Village. Although we disliked being branded as tourists for certain reasons, we still landed our footpath here.Â
So exactly what are the charming part of Gamcheon Culture Village?
Gamcheon Culture Village itself is a labyrinth. Even equipped with a map, we got lost easily here thanks to the presence of hundreds alleys.
Therefore, the fun part here during the exploration is simply get lost in the maze and explore the different houses. There are museums, arts and cultural houses that show you different items that perhaps one or two of it might interest you.Â
Gamcheon Culture Village is popular for its steep streets, twisting alleys and brightly painted house, therefore it earned the nickname as "Machu Picchu of Busan". It was a shanty town built by Korean War refugees in the early 1950s but the colourful painted house has turned this area into a tourist attraction.
You can purchase a map at the information kiosk for a minimum fee and it will detail the point of attractions in Gamcheon Culture Village. The map also allows you to collect stamps at various hidden spots (total 9) in the village, and you can claim a mini prize from the information kiosk at the end of tour.
As we are "half-baked tourists", we decided to skip purchasing the map (we knew the map will end up in our drawer growing dust eventually). Instead, we use a plain paper to collect the different stamps. If I recalled correctly, we failed to collect all 9 of them.

Nevertheless, you need to have some patient to wait for your turn even to take a picture. That is why we skipped to photography the famous fox picture above.
It is alright not to be in the frame for every attraction, right?
Instead, we take our time and find our own spot to get some photos.
As a matter of fact, there are many spots that offer nice view of Gamcheon Culture Village.Â
You just need to slow down your pace to explore bits of it.
The rare sighting of such house arrangement also make this place a wonder to look at. On top of that, the maintenance works of Gamcheon Culture Village should be credited accordingly as well, as this place still maintained a good condition despite some house appeared to be vacant.
There are still residents staying here, so do control your voice volume when you are exploring the surroundings.
Somewhere within Busan Gamcheon Cultura Village, we spotted this local market that sells various produce. If you are up to grab some food or fresh produces here, then you may consider spend some time here.Â

To get into Busan Gamcheon Culture Village, you can either take the bus from Goejeong station or Toseong station. The picture above show the bus station at Goejeong station. When you are boarding the bus, just tell the driver you are heading to Busan Gamcheon Culture Village and the bus driver will notify you accordingly.Â
Direction (From Toseong station): Take Bus 2 or 2-2Â
2-3 hours (excluding dining time) at Busan Gamcheon Culture Village should be suffice to explore part of it. However if you are keen to explore more of it, then allocate yourself half a day here!
