Located off Simpang Ampat main road is Hup Hoe Biscuit, a bygone treasure cove with a history of more than 100 years to shop for local biscuits. Now manned by their 3rd generation, the seemingly small shop sells more than 100 types of biscuits, arranged in glass containers stacked in cabinets for shoppers to choose.Â
Hup Hoe Biscuit store so many good-old-days biscuits, such as iced gems (atapchi), sesame biscuits, bread rusks, bread sticks, pong pneah and etc that set to reminiscent your wonderful childhood. Many of the items here hold a close connection to my childhood life.Â
I remember when I was young, I used to enjoy bread sticks in Milo while my grandparents have the bread sticks with black coffee. It has been years since I never had it - university, working life, and my grandparents are no longer with us. If they are still around, I will definitely get them a big packet.
Another great thing is Hup Hoe is a biscuit maker as well. Those in red packets are freshly made biscuits which included pong pheah, sesame biscuits and many more. It is highly sought by customers, as we see two customers drop by when we were there and they bought bundles of biscuits.
