Just a few doors from the recently conceived Butterworth Art Walk is Luan Fong Kopitiam, a traditional Hainanese coffee shop that has been established in the early 1960s and witness the bustling of Butterworth.
Today the facade and operation of Luan Fong Kopitiam remained the same as during its inception in the early 1960s. Many people still flocking the coffee shop to have a taste of their toasted bread with their very own kaya (coconut egg) spread. Pair up the toasts with a cup of coffee, and let the slight bitterness from the coffee to complement the sweetness from the kaya spread. For best sensation, order a cup of half boiled egg and make it the perfect set of breakfast.
There are a variety of toasts here, ranging from the classic Roti Kahwin, sandwiches to the Instagrammable toasts having soft boiled egg topping them. Everything is equally delicious and unique on its own way.
At the same time, the sole stall selling beef noodle in Luan Fong is a delicacy. The beef noodle served here is one of the best in town, having rich and light broth with mixture of edible beef parts, and the beef balls are delicious. It is notable that the stall uses only halal-ceritified beef in the noodles.
