What The Duck Restaurant is one of the restaurant that emphasizes on duck. Elements of duck are incorporated into various dishes offered by the restaurant, ranging from appetizer to dessert. Recently, the restaurant has expanded to Bayan Lepas after its first outlet in Nagore Square. While we were impressed with the relatively affordable priced dishes with averagely good taste, we felt some of the staff here are not well trained, and somehow made offensive gestures that made us uncomfortable..

The signature WTD Duck Confit (RM 24.50)Â is a pretty good deal, both in terms of price and taste. Though the flavours were not robust as the classic French duck confit, it was pretty decent and managed to whet our appetite. Duck meat was flavourful and cooked to have crispy skin and soft meat. When we have it with the pumpkin sauce, it gave a sweet sensation while the preserved vegetables offered a slight tangy taste. Therefore, tweak it depending on your personal preference. Overal, the duck confit is a delightful dish.

The Spicy Indonesia Bek Bek Pasta (RM 18.80) appears to be a fusion between Western and Indonesia by preparing duck the Asian way in the spaghetti noodle. Although the overall taste is alright, we did not find strong presence of Bek Bek, or duck in the spaghetti noodles. It has a pungent spicy taste, and probably the usage of chili oil renders the overall pasta a tad oily to enjoy.Â

| Salted Duck Egg Cotton Cheese Cake (RM 12) |
Salted Duck Egg Cotton Cheese Cake (RM 12) is a creative creation that worth trying. The soft cheese cake was infused with salted duck egg that tickles the tongue with both rich taste from the cheese and aromatic taste from the salted duck egg.Â
Well, back to our experiences during the dine-in at What The Duck @ Setia Spice Canopy. We felt some of the staff here were not well trained, such as they appeared to be blurry or blunt during service, but all these are tolerable as they are young and probably still learning. However, we could not accept the gesture of one of the staff of the last incident.
We have a habit of paying directly at the cashier since we are using credit card. Therefore, after dining, I stood up with the wallet on my hand and prepared to walk to the counter. Within a sudden, one of the male crew rushed to our table, with the hand gesture pointing to the table. seemingly an indicator to me that I have not paid yet, followed with the intonation of questioning me - "Sir?!", of course with his unfriendly big eyes starring at me.
I was stunned that felt offended that moment. Therefore, I just shunned off and saying I am paying at the counter, and the crew did not appear to be unapologetic too. Personally, we felt the way how the crew undertakes the diners is insulting. There ought to be a proper way of addressing customers rather than throwing an offensive tone "Sir?!".Â
In Malay, this staff is call "Kurang Ajar", or impudence in English.
