Tucked in a neighbourhood area, Chapel Street Cafe has recently welcomed a new tenant - Belle and Cream. The new addition has given the patrons in the Australia inspired Chapel Street Cafe access to a wide variety of desserts, cakes and an unconventional drink in cafe - bubble milk tea. Seats are rather scant in the cafe, which means most likely you will have to wait during peak hours or weekend. The menu does not have much varieties but is more than enough to put us into an conundrum what to pick with the choices of Western bites and meals.
Bubble Milk Tea Cheesecake RM 22 |
Bubble Bang Milk (RM 10) |
Items from Belle and Cream can be ordered and delivered to Chapel Street Cafe, and vice versa. Well, we were intrigued by the Bubble Milk Tea Cheesecake (RM 22). It is expensive but the odd combination of pearls and cheesecake worked well miraculously. The cheesecake was spot on for us - semi rich and dense in texture, though some who used to a strong cheese taste with excessive creaminess would be lamenting after having it.
After we were impressed by the cake, we fall into the trap of having the milk tea - Bubble Bang Milk (RM 10), which turned out to be just a fancy drink with less appeasing taste. Undeniably the pearls were fresh and chewy, but the entire concoction just did not bond with our taste buds. The process of making the drink involved some steps - scooping pearls into the cup, coating the cup with syrup, then pour in half cup of Magnolia Farm House fresh milk and topped with ice.
Aussie Ice Coffee (RM 17), Cappucino (RM 10) |
The coffee comes from Chapel Street Cafe. Aussie Ice Coffee (RM 17) is served along with a scoop of delicious ice cream, while Cappucino (RM 10) is decently done. Comparing to the bubble milk tea, we would prefer to have the coffee instead.
Crodog (RM 15) |
Rocky Porky (RM 25) |
We had a Crodog (RM 15) - a croissant with hot dog then topped with mayonnaise and mustard. At one instant, it tasted alike hot dog breads we used to order in cinema. The chef must have liked mustard so much that he put so much mustard. Overall it serves as a quick snack but.
The Rocky Pork (RM 25) - a burger with big patty is a mixture of good and mediocre. The patty is nice, big and nicely grilled, and paired well with the bacon stripes. A slight charred on both the patty and bacon gave it a nice sweetness. Meanwhile, the usage of pea shoots and apples were odd for us. It just did not click with the patty. For the side serve nachos, it has a bad smell of greasy. Kindly take note the burger will take 20 minutes upon ordering for preparation.
