Recently we have bumped into a new spot for our supper fix as a break from the conventional mamak stalls. Though the carbohydrate load ain't any lighter than food offered in Mamak stalls, we have been hooked to it ever since tried it. It is a nasi lemak stall operated by Chinese located at Xen Teck Cafe along Weld Quay. You can select different dishes to complement the fragrant coconut rice (white rice is available too), but the fried chicken and their unique sambal is a must have!
Do not underestimate the bit of seemingly not lethal. It is burning hot, yet a bit of it will spice up the flavour of the nasi lemak. On top of that, we really enjoyed the tenderness meat of the fried chicken, and a little char of it somehow enhanced its taste.
The Char Koay Teow (RM 5) offered by the other stall is equally good too. Though it may not make it to the top 5 char koay teow in Penang but its wok hei and fragrance should fit the expectations of a decent plate of char koay teow. The similar stall also sell fried rice but it was mediocre.
