Apart from fresh seafood produce, Sabah is known to serve delicious Pan Mee, possibly some of the best Pan Mee around Malaysia would be originating from Sabah. If I recall correctly, Sabah Chili Pan Mee ( 沙巴辣椒板面) took the storm in social media, showcasing the exodus of crowd, influencers and long queue for dine in. After the popularity, another branch was being established in Gaya Street after the first Lintas outlet. Out of curiosity, I visited the restaurant in April when I was in Kota Kinabalu, and the scene of long queue was no longer visible. Besides, the taste was not impressive as I thought..
Chili Pan Mee (RM 8.90) |
Fried Century Egg Dumpling (RM 6.90) |
I ought to put 3 spoon of chili into the Chili Pan Mee in order to get the feeling of a slight spiciness. However, the overall pan mee was plain in taste, lacking of aromatic scent. Probably the soy sauce used did not elevate its overall taste. Nevertheless, at least the ingredients were generous, with plentiful of anchovies, minced pork and egg.
Fried Century Egg Dumpling tasted more like Fried Wantan instead. This is one good deal as it packs a generous quantity of filling.
Well, at least the price was affordable as Sabah food never come cheap but a taste refinement is needed to live up with the reputation of Sabah Pan Mee.
