Georgetown Wines @ Leith Street, Penang

Georgetown Wines is a wine bar and restaurant located in the heart of Penang that provides a rustic yet elegant ambiance to enjoy the evening with a few glasses of wines. Previously a mews, the building has underwent refurbishment that retains its original architecture, particularly the center part of the restaurant that resembles a barn and purportedly made such a way to cater for big group of event. Wine connoisseurs would be delighted to see a wine cellar here and the sommelier is more than happy to assist our needs on choosing our preferred wine.

The restaurant also provides a few selection on the main dishes should you need something more stomach fulfilling during your visit. However as our main intention was to chill out in the evening by having a few glasses of wine, we ordered a cheese platter instead.

We were delighted on the recommendation of wine by the sommelier, as he patiently attended to our enquiries and helped us into making the best selection. The cheese platter on the other hand, features 3 different types of cheese, cookies, apricots, walnuts and fried onion, which we felt alright except for the fried onion as the pungent smell affects the subsequent sip of the wine. One of the cheese, which is more of a semi solid form with a tad of saltiness is the one we enjoyed the most during the evening.

Besides, the environment of the restaurant is perfect in the evening with a dim light, music that makes it a blissful place to enjoy some wines.
