I never thought a simple shop selling ABC (Air Batu Campur) would have the ability to gather such an immense crowd.
Such a solid above statement is the situation reflected at Swee Kang Ice Kacang in Kuching Sarawak. The two combined shoplot was full house when we went and check out the location at Jalan Haji Taha, Kuching, Sarawak.
People regardless of races were seen sitting in the restaurant, enjoying a bowl of ABC and different types of chilling drinks. Some drinks had interesting names such as White Lady and Matahorn.

The Air Batu Campur (RM 3.00) is the standard Ais Kacang with shaved ice and not particularly sweet. White Lady (RM 3.80) on the other hand, is more refreshing with a lemon taste and has some fruits in the drinks.Â
On a separate visit, we ordered Ice Kacang and Cendol. The only difference between these 2 is Ice Kacang has kidney bean added on top of the green jelly
Most of the tables would have Char Koay (Fried Lobak) or Rojak. Due to stomach limitation, we only tried the Char Koay. Fried by a young chap, the quintessential taste is there but it was a tad generous on salt we felt.
At the moment penning the article, I only learnt that Swee Kang Ice Kacang used to operate in a small house with a handful of tables and chairs. Years pass and the shop has evolved into such a big setting!
