Oriental Park Kolo Mee @ Kuching, Sarawak

Kolo Mee is a dish that well represented Sarawak, and it Sarawakian Chinese favorite. A trip to Kuching will be rendered incomplete if you have not tried the local Kolo Mee. Of the different Kolo mee we have tried, Oriental Park Kolo Mee is the one that left the biggest impression in terms of taste.

The shop is located at a secluded place which you need to pass by some small alley first. Having said that, either a local or GPS should be used if you are not familiar with Kuching.

Available in two version, you can have it as white or red (lard sauce). Sarawak Kolo mee is usually tossed with light sauce and not dark soy sauce which gives it a dark appearance, unlike majority of Kolo mee in other part of Malaysia.

Personally, red sauce will attribute an unique aromatic scent to the springy noodles. Coupled with minced meat and cha siew (barbecue pork), the Oriental Park Kolo Mee makes an excellent choice as breakfast or brunch. The cha siew served over here has a more crisp texture and nicer in taste as well, comparing to other places relatively.

If you are a big eater, go for the special kolo mee instead, which is topped up with more minced meat and cha siew.
