汤师父 Souper Tang @ Gurney Plaza, Penang

The Malaysia chain restaurant - Souper Tang 汤师父 which was re-branded from Taang Shi Fu has established its first ever outlet in Penang Gurney Plaza, after numerous outlets have been open across Malaysia and even Singapore. Souper Tang is renowned for its philosophy that aims to serve nutritious soups. A positive crowd has been registered in the restaurant since its inception, evidencing Penangites are willing to pay a tad higher to enjoy good food.

Souper Tang Signature Soup (RM 41.42)

Thanks to the variation of soups on the menu, we were spoilt of choice and eventually settled with Souper Tang Signature Soup (RM 41.42). The soup was served warm and not piping hot as we thought, and it comes along with a chicken whole leg and some herbal ingredients. Taste wise, the soup is sleek and light, and much soothing when it comes to throat.

Pan Fried Abalone Mushroom in Sauce (RM 22.55)

Pan Fried Eggplant with Scallop in XO Sauce (RM 21.60)

We had another 2 dishes - Pan Fried Abalone Mushroom in Sauce which serves in big quantity with succulent abalone mushroom. We love how the chef maintained a semi-crisp abalone mushroom texture, which shows not over fried that might cause the mushrooms lose the nutrients. Pan Fried Eggplant with Scallop in XO Sauce was equally good, as the eggplant texture was not too mushy to cause any disapproval. Nevertheless, we would prefer to have the XO sauce less oily.
