Without doubt the dish the rings the best when it comes to Hakka cuisine will be Thunder Tea Rice, or simply known as Lei Cha (擂茶) due to its pungent and greenish taste but somehow the version at Hakka Tree managed to tame us, particularly the fried version.

When the fried brown rice is mixed with all the other compounded ingredients, it gives a smooth and refreshing taste, coupled with a natural and delectable fragrance. The Thunder Tea Rice Soup version on the other hand, is more of a classic Lei Cha. Pour the soup accordingly based on your tolerance on the greenish taste.

Pai Kut Ong Noodle

Hakka Tree offers abundance of noodles choices with a tweak of Hakka traits in this staple food. You could have it dried, or soup with various accompanying ingredients, depending on your preference. Personally, we like the springy texture of the noodles and we thought the noodles are best eaten in its simplest form, i.e. with soup and some basic toppings such as fishballs or minced meat.

Hakka Abacus Beads 算盘子

Hakka descendants are famous of Abacus Beads, a traditional dish that made from yam that signifies wealth. The Abacus Beads at Hakka Tree is scrumptious, when it is served along with minced meat and mushrooms slices, then the taste is elevated with usage of light soy sauce.

Treat yourself for a sweet end at Hakka Tree here with their Purple Yam, which is one of our favorite dessert. It was creatively made by twisting yam and sweet potatoes together in the roll that yields a natural sweet starch taste, while the crisp edge that offers crunchy bites gives it a nice palate experiences.
