Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Kuih Since Year 1933 莫定標娘惹粿廠 @ Chulia Street, Georgetown, Penang

Tucked away in a small alley off Lebuh Chulia with austere facade and faded signboard lies a Nyonya kuih factory - Moh Teng Peow, which dished out supplies of various Nyonya kuih to a lot of sellers during its prime time. However as the bicycle Nyonya kuih sellers reduces, their sales dwindled as well.

Later on, Moh Teng Pheow returned to their heyday when people begun to spot them. Nowadays they are selling about 20 varieties of scrumptious Nyonya Kuih here, alongside with Nasi Lemak, Nasi Ulam, Laksa and etc. Today, Moh Teng Pheow is one of the iconic destination to sample some of the best Nyonya Kuih in Penang, although the total bill may come hefty after you order your desired items, as all food on display are too scrumptious to resist.

Moh Teng Pheow still retained its original settings, which is the kuih factory, unaltered. Thus, do not feel alienated or strange when you walk into the shop as nothing comes close to a proper restaurant. Walk to the very behind of the building and there are an allocated area for dining.

Most of the kuih has an agreeable great taste and reminiscent my good olden days whereby Nyonya kuih was a customary item on breakfast menu. However, the items are not cheap here. A small sized Ang Koo cost RM 1.50, which is slightly above average in the market.

If you are looking for something more stomach fulfilling while nipping a few bites of Nyonya Kuih, the Laksa or Nasi Lemak are some decent choices. Laksa is good with a nice flavoured and balanced soup, albeit the price is slightly high - RM 6.00 for a bowl.

Nasi Lemak here is served in Nyonya style as well, with asam prawns, fried mackerel, slices of cucumbers and some mild hot chili to go with the coconut rice. We personally thought the nasi lemak is scrumptious, and definitely worth the price tag it bears - RM 7.50.
