How different could a bowl of Koay Teow Soup becomes?
The inspiration of having lemon in Koay Teow Soup might not be new in Penang mainland but this is the first one in the Island. As far as we are aware, the only kopitiam in the Island that sells Lemon Koay Teow Soup is located at Kafe Kam 88 in a Bayan Baru neighbourhood.
Interestingly, introducing lemon into the clear soup did not cause additional sourish. It gives a pleasant subtle and refreshing flavor, rendering the koay teow soup becomes non-ordinary. We felt adding some of the chili into the soup will yield a much pleasant taste.
Other than Koay Teow Soup, the stall also sells Wantan Mee. The noodles are prepared into al-dente but more sesame oil being tossed together with the noodles would yield a much delicious bowl of wantan mee. Not recommended to go for the soup version as the soup tasted bland.
