Between the border of Sungai Ara and Bayan Lepas, there is usually a crowd of bikes parking by the road nearby the intersection leading to the military office at Bukit Gedung. There lies one of the secret gem in Penang, which serves one of the best roti canai in Penang we have tried. It is very popular among the locals here, and most of the patrons are local people or factory workers working nearby. We are glad that this roti canai stall has not been widely spread yet and remained a true gem for Penangites to enjoy.Â
The stall practically has no name therefore we have no idea how to introduce it. They serve roti canai with a variety of side, such as chicken, mutton or beef. What is so special about the roti canai here is the exceptionally crispy skin yet thin dough. When mixing it with the spicy and thick gravy, the experience for palate is exceptional.Â
If you are running out of the gravy, simply walk over to the counter and they are more willing to top up for you, free of charge!
Other than roti canai, the murtabak here is good too. It comes with a generous portion, more than enough to fill your stomach for the morning.Â
If you come late, most likely the roti canai has ceased operation but you can enjoy the economy rice, which is another sensation among the locals. It is full of crowd when it starts operation, and we were intrigued to try it because of the amazing crowd in fact. The gravy is good, and the fried chicken is particularly awesome!Â
