Ocean Green Restaurant & Seafood 海洋青海鲜楼@ Georgetown, Penang

Ocean Green Restaurant & Seafood is one of the pioneer seafood restaurant in Penang, sitting by the seaside in the town and co-share the premise with another archaic hotel - Paramount Hotel. Despite its "age" factor, the restaurant still retain its reputation by serving some great dishes, albeit the wallet might get slight hemorrhage.

Cheese Crab (RM 10/piece)

The cheese crab did not come cheap at RM 10 per piece but the reward to the gustation is beyond words. Every slices of the crab meats are coated with cheese, rendering a rich and full sensation. Not recommended for people with cholesterol intolerance though. 

After the cheese crab appetizer, the rest of the dishes comes in a course dinner of RM 700, which includes (the English translation is done by ourselves):

  • 芝士焗波龙三拼  (3 Dishes Lobster Dishes Pot)
  • 炸花仔鸡 (Fried Spring Chicken)
  • 冬菇兰花豆腐腰果 (Mushroom and Broccoli with Cashew Nuts)
  • 风味蒸红狮 (Red Snapper)
  • 雀巢黃金麦片虎虾 (Nestum prawn)
  • 生日淋面 (Birthday Noodles) 
  • 芒果西米露 (Mango Sago)

芝士焗波龙三拼  (3 Dishes Lobster Dishes Pot)
This platter is a premium variety of starter by having lobster meat in cheese, alongside with fried spring rolls and satay. If you thought the cheesy lobster was the wondrous of the dish, then you might be misled as the satay tasted more awesome even. It can be order separately at RM 1.60 per piece.

炸花仔鸡 (Fried Spring Chicken)
Not many restaurants are selling fried spring chicken in Penang Island and we are glad to find it being served here. An extra piece of fried spring chicken will cost RM 7.50.

冬菇兰花豆腐腰果 (Mushroom and Broccoli with Cashew Nuts)
Do not forget the bean curd hidden beneath the mushrooms and broccoli. Those are the true gems of the dish.

风味蒸红狮 (Red Snapper)
While we thought the Red Snapper was fresh and the gravy was great, these 2 elements just did not blend well together. The gravy was something like a laksa broth that had hint of sweetness and spiciness.

雀巢黃金麦片虎虾 (Nestum prawn)
When the Nestum Prawns were served, we were misled and thought it was fried chicken thigh instead. The prawns have been de-shelled so it was hassle-free to enjoy it.

Overall, it was a gratifying dinner here. The dishes were more of savoury type. Albeit the price tags were slightly higher, some people would still find it justifiable.
