Non-resident of Sungai Petani would be surprised to find out that behind the town bus station lies a small area, featuring a few food and drinks stalls that are frequented by Sungai Petani residents. This below radar area in fact is churning out one of the best Ice Blended drinks we ever had. There are a few stalls here selling ice blended drinks, and the first stall that was established is 老招牌大鼻红豆搅, having the history dated back to 1971.
There are a variety of ice blended drinks being offered here, with some common option such as red beans, fruits, corns while a few peculiar choices would include coconuts and coffee.
Since Shirleen has never been to Sungai Petani to try the ice blended drinks here, we had a cup of red bean ice blended and corn ice blended respectively. The food ingredients are being churned to a smooth drink with the retention of its original aromatic taste, then topped up with a spoon of milo powder.
Feeling not enough by just having 2 cups of it, we ordered another cup of Coconut Ice Blended. However the taste turned out to be laici taste. When we clarified with the boss, she said we were served the correct version. Till today, we still feeling perplexed why it had a laici taste....
